St. Michael, Minnesota, boasts a thriving arts and culture scene that enriches the community and offers residents and visitors a variety of engaging experiences. From dynamic theater productions to lively festivals, there’s always something happening in our town.
SOAR Regional Arts: A Pillar of Local Theater
At the heart of St. Michael’s performing arts community is SOAR Regional Arts. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing live theater opportunities and arts education to the residents of St. Michael, Otsego, Albertville, and Rogers. SOAR stands for the cities it represents, emphasizing its commitment to the regional community.
SOAR’s productions have become a staple in the local arts scene. For instance, in September 2025, they presented a concert version of the iconic rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the St. Michael Town Center Lions Pavilion. This outdoor performance was free to the public, with a suggested donation to support SOAR’s mission of enriching the community through performing arts and youth leadership opportunities.
In February 2026, SOAR showcased “The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition” at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West in Albertville. This production highlighted the talents of young performers and provided accessible arts experiences for the community.
Annual Festivals and Community Events
St. Michael hosts a variety of annual events that celebrate the arts and bring the community together. One such event is the Fall Craft Show, organized by the St. Michael-Albertville Women of Today. Scheduled for November 21, 2026, at St. Michael-Albertville High School, this craft show features a range of exhibitors showcasing their handmade goods, providing a platform for local artisans and a unique shopping experience for attendees.
Additionally, the St. Michael Legion Auxiliary hosts the “Dears Gone Wild” Craft and Bake Sale. The 2025 event took place on November 8 at the Liberty Restaurant and Bar/American Legion Post 567. This gathering featured various vendors offering woodworking, handcrafted soaps and lotions, metalwork, natural cleaning products, sourdough bread, and more, highlighting the diverse talents within our community.
